FAQ
What is traditional Thai massage?
Thai massage is an ancient healing practice that combines acupressure, assisted stretching and yoga-like postures. Unlike Western massage, it is performed on a mat with the client fully clothed, and no oil is used. The therapist uses hands, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure along energy lines and guide the body through stretches.
Is Thai massage painful?
Thai massage should not be painful. While some stretches and pressure points may feel intense, I always communicate with you and adjust the intensity to your comfort level. The goal is therapeutic benefit, not discomfort. If you have never tried Thai massage, I will start gently and progress based on your feedback.
What should I wear for a Thai massage?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows movement — similar to what you would wear for yoga. Thai massage is performed fully clothed without oil, so athletic wear or loose pants and a t-shirt work perfectly.
What is your background in Thai massage?
I was born and raised in Thailand, where I studied and practiced traditional Thai massage techniques. I also completed a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at Thammasat University in Bangkok. After moving to Canada, I earned my Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy at Centennial College in Toronto, which allows me to combine traditional Thai methods with evidence-based Western techniques.
Is Thai massage covered by insurance in Ontario?
Yes. Thai massage performed by a CMTO-registered RMT is covered by most extended health insurance plans in Ontario. I provide official receipts for insurance reimbursement.
